Health IT Week, June 9-13
Healthcare IT marketers should be aware that Health IT Week is June 9-13 of this year. The week will feature a number of events in Washington, DC, along with possible media attention. Vendors who are HIMSS corporate members can become partners for free in Health IT Week, which means your logo gets to be on the Health IT Week Web site and you can leverage the Week for your own marketing purposes.

National Health IT Week 2008 is the leading forum for developing common ground to advance adoption of the health information technologies transforming health and care in the US. The week brings together information technology and interconnectivity vendors, hospital and provider organizations, payers, pharmaceutical/biotech companies, government agencies, industry/professional associations, and consumer protection groups. During National Health IT Week, these public and private entities collaborate to advance health IT adoption with "One Voice, One Vision."
National Health IT Week 2008 activities will unite stakeholders to facilitate and strengthen industry/government connections and maximize impact of bipartisan health IT legislation. The following events are currently scheduled, and new activities are continuously being added:
June 9-10, 2008
* HIMSS Summit: A two-day program focused on health IT leadership
June 10-11, 2008
* HIMSS Advocacy Day: Training will be provided during the evening of June 10, and more than 300 individuals will visit hundreds of members of Congress on June 11
* Networking Reception and Awards Ceremony at the Capitol Hill Club: to be held the evening of June 11
June 12, 2008
* Capitol Hill Steering Committee on Telehealth and Healthcare Informatics Technology Showcase: An exhibition of health IT solutions and innovation
* Capitol Hill Press Conference: The cornerstone of National Health IT Week 2008 media events

* Center for Information Therapy Seventh Annual Conference
Last year's National Health IT Week partners shared the national spotlight:
* May 14-18, 2007, was declared National Health IT Week by Senate Resolution 202.
* The press conference held during the Week showcased bipartisan congressional support of health IT and related legislation. Seven members of Congress participated: Senator Debbie Stabenow (D-MI), Senator Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI), Representative Patrick Kennedy (D-RI), Representative Phil Gingrey (R-GA), Representative Charlie Gonzalez (D-TX), Representative Dennis Moore (D-KS) and Representative Tim Murphy (R-PA).
* 60 partner organizations voluntarily participated and supported National Health IT Week.
* The National Health IT Week website received more than 13,000 page views and nearly 4,000 unique visitors.
* National Health IT Week earned 1.9 million positive media impressions.
* A majority of partners participated in marketing efforts:
- Partner marketing included e-mail blasts to more than 310,000 unique health IT stakeholders.
- Event information and newsletter articles were promoted on 24 websites.
Please add your voice and vision! There is no charge to your organization-we simply ask for partners' agreement in lending your organizations' name and logo to the effort. We also request that partners co-market the event as possible and appropriate through their own channels. Partner events will be promoted as part of National Health IT Week. Costs for partner events are the responsibility of the partner. As a partner organization, you will be asked to designate a liaison for communications purposes.
By supporting National Health IT Week, you send our nation's leaders a powerful message on the importance of accelerating broader adoption of health IT in order to improve patient health and care.
