As the Olympics capture the hearts and minds of casual and sports fans everywhere, we checked in with nutrition expert Joan Salge Blake to get her perspective on a number of topics, including why Michael Phelps can eat 12,000 calories a day, the best foods to snack on while watching the Games and the myths surrounding sugary sports drinks.
Joan is a clinical associate professor and registered dietician at Boston University's Sargent College of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences. She is the author of several books on nutrition and pens the “Nutrition & You” blog on Boston.com.
